Today, we remember President Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, who passed away at 100 years old. Carter, Navy veteran, Nobel laureate, and the founder of The Carter Center, was the only President to have graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2005, the Navy honored Carter's continued commitment to the sea service by naming the Seawolf-class fast-attack submarine USS Jimmy Carter (SSN 23).
