Alien: Romulus has been an absolute lightning rod for the ongoing Alien franchise. Director Fede Alvarez took things back to Ridley Scott’s horror roots with Romulus, resulting in more than $350 million at the global box office and heaps of praise from viewers.

Romulus continues Rain and Andy’s adventures, it can do something with the xenomorphs that no previous Alien movie has done. 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell has confirmed that a sequel to Alien: Romulus is in development.

Romulus sequel recently got an exciting jump start from director Fede Alvarez, who hinted at the series going in a fresh direction. In a recent chat with Empire, Alvarez told the publication that in addition to a general update,

Fede Alvarez says he's ready to go big or go home for his next Alien movie. "Rodo [Sayagues, co-writer] and I are working on that right now," Alvarez told Empire. "We're excited about where it can go.
