The Islamist group Hamas confirmed Monday the entry of displaced Palestinians into northern Gaza and celebrated their return to the area, one of the hardest hit by the Israeli offensive, as a victory and a “declaration of the failure and defeat of the (Israeli) occupation and its displacement plans”.

Tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians traveled along the coast of Gaza on Jan. 27 to the north of the enclave after Israel opened roadblocks.
