The chief of the presidential security service in South Korea, Park Jong-joon, resigned from his position amid a political stalemate as federal authorities seek to arrest the country’s impeached president.

Park Jong-joon, the chief of the Presidential Security Service (PSS), appeared for police questioning on Jan. 10 in connection with allegations of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol on Jan.

South Korea’s acting leader has accepted the resignation of the chief of the presidential security service, Park Jong-joon, as he faced police questioning over how his forces blocked law enforcement efforts to detain impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol last week.
