Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain each faces a shocking early exit from the Champions League for the first time in more than a decade.

Manchester City are in danger of exiting the Champions League from the league phase but if that happens the club’s ambitions in the transfer market could take a massive hit. An early exit means Man City will potentially lose out on over 60 million euros in prize money which could force them to spend miserly next summer.

The UEFA Champions League returns on Wednesday with Matchday 8, which could very well be the most hectic, chaotic day in terms of results that the sport has ever seen. All 36 teams will be in action as 18 games will take place simultaneously at 3 p.

The loss would leave just the Premier League and FA Cup up for grabs, but the former looks extremely unlikely. Manchester City have been in the last two FA Cup finals, but elimination from the English domestic competition could result in Guardiola's first trophy-less season since his arrival.
