Procedural lapses and a key witness committing perjury led to Ripudaman Singh Malik being acquitted for his alleged role in the 1985 Air India Flight 182 bombing, also known as the Kanishka bombing

A contract killer in Canada was convicted on Tuesday (local time) of murdering an acquitted suspect in 1985 Air India bombings that had claimed 331 lives.

One of two hitmen hired to kill former Air India bombing suspect Ripudaman Singh Malik was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 20 years.

A contract killer, Tanner Fox, was sentenced to life in Canada for the murder of Ripudaman Singh Malik, previously cleared of the 1985 Air India bombings. Fox and his associate, Jose Lopez, admitted to the killing but did not disclose the employer's identity.

Tanner Fox is one of two hitmen who killed Ripudaman Singh Malik in Canada in 2022. It is still unknown who hired them.

Tanner Fox, 24, received his sentence on Tuesday from a British Columbia Supreme Court judge. Both him and his accomplice, Jose Lopez, pleaded guilty last October to the second-degree murder of Sikh businessman Ripudaman Singh Malik in 2022. Lopez is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday.
