Handing over control of the official presidential and vice presidential social media accounts has become a standard part of the transition process.

Among those is popstar Gracie Abrams, who took to Instagram to reassure her followers. “I had t unfollow @vp and @potus three separate times today because [Meta] kept automatically refollowing the accounts,” she said on Instagram stories. “How curious! Had to block them in order to make sure I am nowhere near that.”

"Full dictatorship incoming," another person replied. The allegation spread quickly. A fellow Reddit user attempted to explain: “If you previously followed or liked Vice President Kamala Harris or President (Joe) Biden,
