(KNSI) – A United States Border Patrol agent killed in Vermont Monday while on duty has roots in Minnesota.

A German national suspect on a legal visa allegedly killed a United States Border Agent during a traffic stop in Vermont near the Northern border, Fox News Digital has confirmed.

Newly released details regarding the fatal shooting of U.S. Border Patrol Agent David “Chris” Maland on Interstate 91 confirm the suspect who died in the incident was not in the country illegally, but rather a German national lawfully present in the United States on a current visa.
