Someone within the Philadelphia Eagles organization didn't appreciate right tackle Lane Johnson losing out on the league's first-team All-Pro right tackle spot to Detroit Lions right tackle Penei Sewell for the second season in a row.

Detroit Lions right tackle Penei Sewell exited to the locker room early before halftime of the Week 17 game against the San Francisco 49ers with an injury. After the game, head coach Dan Campbell revealed Sewell is dealing with a thumb issue.

Sewell was named the 2024 Polynesian Pro Football Player of the Year. “On behalf of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Board of Directors, we congratulate Penei on a remarkable season,” said Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Chairman Jesse Sapolu. “He stands as a true source of pride for the Polynesian community.”

Detroit Lions tackle Penei Sewell had another phenomenal season in 2024. The former Oregon Ducks showed he is worth every dime of his four-year $112 million contract extension he signed last April as he made his second straight NFL All-Pro team.

The Lions had six combined first and second team selections. On the first team - receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, right tackle Penei Sewell, safety Kerby Joseph and punter Jack Fox. St. Brown was second in the league with 115 receptions, 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Six Detroit Lions were named All Pro for the 2024 season, including safety Kerby Joseph, who was snubbed for the Pro Bowl.
