U.S. Border Patrol Agent David "Chris" Maland was fatally shot during a traffic stop in northern Vermont on Monday afternoon.

The agent was identified as David “Chris” Maland, 44. Maland was a Blue Earth native and a graduate of Fairmont High School.

Maland’s family told the Associated Press that Maland grew up in Blue Earth and graduated from Fairmont High School.
