The new Netflix series Black Warrant takes audiences inside one of the largest prison complexes in India, Tihar Jail. The story follows Sunil Gupta, a jailer new to the compound, who comes face to face with the many dangers, dramas, and infamous criminals inside.

Indian streaming platforms are turning to books for story inspiration, with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Black Warrant being a recent example. Based on Sunil Gupta’s book, the show delves into India’s prison system.
