A hidden gem!!!! A beautiful natural beach! Great for walks, kite surfing, picnics, permanent bbq grills and a nearby marina. Several piers! Full review by Jazz61104

I went to Waukegan to the North Beach Park today (7/2) and for the first time I met a guard there at the gate who was charging money to enter. He asked for $20!!! Only cash. There was no sign about fees to the park. He look legitimate with his outfit and the car but when I think about it right now I wish I took a picture and reported it. I came all the way from Chicago to avoid crowds and I was not prepared to pay. So I checked the map and 15 minutes further I found this Illinois Beach State Park. So I went there. There there was no suspicious attendant and entry was free!!!
